MHD Customer Experience & Questions
Let me start if with explaining who I am. I am only a customer and would like to share my experience with you guys. I am not affiliated with any tuners or companies.
MODS: Jb4 G5 Vrsf ********* Muffler delete Bms Intakes Stock intercooler Stock lpfp Fuel: I used 6 gallons E85 the rest of the tank 91 pump The MHD Platform is very new. I am not a beta tester and have not contacted MHD about any of my questions which is why I have decided to make a new thread! Maybe my questions can help others. There are like 2 threads on MHD and they are discussing the product but not going into specific questions or Issues. I bought: Flasher module Monitoring E40 v2 map Super easy to buy First I will say that the E40 v2 map that I flashed is SUPER SMOOTH!!!!! MAN I was running map 2 and map 5 no backend or custom flash and the car pulled great but I just didn’t feel like is was smooth as can be. I have heard that the JB4 backend flash helps a ton with the performance and smoothness of the car. I HAVE HAD SAME RESULTS with the MHD e40 Map. Before you even start messing with the MHD APP on your phone or tablet (I am using my GALAXY NOTE 4) works just fine! DO NOT USE THE APP WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING. The car starts “glitching” throws and half lit engine light. Throttle and idle are completely thrown off car will not run smoothly for at least 3 minutes... you will have to reset the adaptations turn the car off let it sit a couple seconds and try it again.. I have contacted WEDGE Briefly just to make sure I didn’t stack JB4 incorrectly... Turns out I am not supposed to stack the JB4 maps with the E40 map which I should have known. JB4 backend or a Wedge custom tune is my best bet. I’m am not the most knowledgeable on the tuning portion on how to stack JB4 and the MHD map Problems: The connectivity is a hit or miss. Sometimes it will connect and sometimes it won’t. I had to try a variety of steps just to connect to the ECU. For example if I had the key in and connected the obd2 port it would not connect. If I pulled the key out and did the obd2 port plug in first and then the key it would connect. Same thing with the ignition on dash lit up sometime it would or would not connect and say failed to connect. This could be many things maybe it’s my phone or the cable or the app itself... I will get back you guys because personally I got worried with the reliability of the app. NOW TO THE QUESTIONS: Can you stack the JB4 G5 with the Built-in maps? Ex: stage 1, 2, and e40 maps How do I data log if the car freaks out when I connect to the OBD2 port? Is there a solution? Are the Built in maps on MHD the “Q logic” by Wedge maps? I just want to confirm since the titles are vague on the App (stage1, 2, e40) What are the Requirements for the E40 Map in terms of Modification? How Do I load the JB4 backend flash? This will probably be a very common question I’d rather not test and tune. A straight forward step by step with be easier for all of us I am happy to share my experience please drop some feedback so we can better understand MHD. Ill attach some screen shots I took while flashing BTW: 18 min initial flash is pretty damn good not bad. When I did the flash I did not have a battery charger..i used jumper cables with my other car on lol |

So, does this mean that.. one can get JB4 performance through MHD flasher without the need for a JB4, or am I reading this incorrectly?

JB4 optional... But not required. And yes, we can match the performance up to 22.7 psi. Anything above that you'll need a stand alone boost controller like JB4 or Haltech.

Although, I do have a slight question. Considering MHD flashes the ECU, doesn't the ECU technically control everything? What does the JB have that doesn't allow for similar control direct of boost from the computer interface of the car? Not trying to compare the two, just want to understand why one offers that over the other--as I'm assuming MHD cannot replicate a boost controller? |

MHD on the other hand allows you to fine tune the car and set the load and wgdc demand to increase boost. Although you can't type in 18 psi to target boost, you can tune the car so it demands enough wgdc to achieve your targets. So to answer your question, yes... Flash tuning can replicate and in my opinion it actually provides a more refined, smoother power delivery. |

2. If you have the JB4, even on map 0, it controls boost and prevents OBD operations needed for logging through MHD. This is why your car is crapping, MHD and JB4 are requesting concurrent informations. You must remove the JB4 or set it up as completely passive with the special firmware. 3. Yes MHD maps are done by WedgePerformance. 4. FBO (D0wnpipes / FMIC / Intake) and a 40% e85 mix. 5. Get the MHD backends on the other forum and use the "Flash JB4 backend" function. |

Thanks you Wedge and MHD for the responses.. my questions have been answered I flashed the BMS e85 backend flash and it worked like a charm.. only thing I had an issue with was that if for whatever reason the flash fails halfway.. the ECU goes into recovery mode .. which is quite scary because I did not know if it was lost or what. I tried re flashing multiple maps and flashing back to stock which failed a couple of times.. eventually it flashed back to stock,, later that day I flashed the BMS backend and worked great. |

I believe the JB4 backend maps are on N54 tech? I'm assuming that's what MHD means by "other" forum. Either way, I'm sure you can easily find it with a quick Google search. |

Just restart the same flash. If the flash failed during a map flash (2 min) you are proposed to make a map recovery (2min) to avoid a full install.
