diesel inspection
hey guys
just got my car back from the dealer where it had CBU cleaning service performed. My SA told me that computers got updated as well. 1 injector got replaced and calibration performed. Meanwhile my inspection is expiring this month and my dealer told me that unlike gas cars, diesels need to be driven for over 500 miles to reset themselves before the inspection. is that true? |

500 miles is about the interval that a DPF regeneration will take place in; quite possibly the SA is confused about that and inspection. |

When the computer was programmed all of the emissions monitors were reset. These take varying distances to finish testing and clear again. 500 miles seems excessive but it depends on how many different conditions you encounter during the drive cycle. It is not unusual to take more than 100 miles in a new car

TDI has mentioned the DDE is pretty particular in terms of completing driving cycles to get the "ready" status on. Perhaps he will chime in
