is my intake charge pipe bad?

I am just getting into my injector and valve cover gasket job and I notice a little oil around one of the diverter valves but it is below it like on the charge pipe?
is this a common issue? I don't see any cracks, but if there is oil there, assuming there must be a small leak?
I think for now I'm going to clean it and get my injectors and VCG done.
is this common? is there a better part to replace it with?

should I do the pipe and the Diverter valves? recommendation's? upgrades?
the one in the left (towards the rear of the car) is the one in question as the front (right one) is clean

Garage List
Blow-by is pretty common on N54 engines. Makes it into the intake pipe and sometimes all the way down to the FMIC. An OCC will help quite a bit.

It's blow by. Most N54's have quite a bit of it too, so don't get too worried!

An RB PCV, and OCC will help quite a bit, but unless you're seeing a significant amount of oil, don't be too concerned.

FWIW, I can barely see any oil on the DV, so pull the chargepipe off an look inside to determine the actual oil blow by amount. Aside from that, a metal upgraded CP should be on your wish list!

thanks, I do have a RB PCV to install also, along with a new breather hose,
I am not sure how the RB PCV goes in, I haven't looked at it much yet.

The PCV is installed on the rear (nearest the firewall) of the valve cover. I believe it's a 13mm to remove the cap (I junked mine since I had an RB cap to go with the valve,) but it's fairly straight forward. Take the cap off, pull the old valve out (use a drill bit and pliers if you don't want to crush the stock valve) and pop the new one in.

Use the o-ring from the stock cap if replacing with the RB cap, no o-ring required on the RB valve itself.

Most popular upgrades are Evolution Racewerks and VRSF Charge Pipes.

If you want to stick with Diverter Valves, most common is Forge but recently the turbo smarts are becoming popular. Can't go wrong with either, personal preference on looks and sound.

Or you can go to a BOV like tial or HKS, again personal preference on sound or looks.

HKS is the loudest option.

Forge DV being the quietest next to TurboSmart Plumb Back.

You may want to look into a BMS OCC, it will reduce that blow by and keep oil out of your charge pipe and intercooler.
