Better timing and AFR I believe . Sadly us N55 guys don't seem to gain much horsepower from BEF like N54. But richer AFR is great for us running more boost. Plus shooting flames and popping from the exhaust is always fun during gear shifts IMO.

So just bought the Cobb and load BMS BEF, just wonder anyone out there run the same set up but with stage 2 aggressive and JB4 and gain more? I feel when I run BMS flash and map 5 is less violence than just map 5 without Cobb.

The BEF from bms lowers timing some for big turbos and is geared for high boost. With that said there are quite a few stock turbo n55s that do run BEF for clamping pressure on DCT cars and a little more fuel. If you plan on turbo upgrade for sure get it.

I am FBO and having Pure stage 2 installed next week. Yea! From reading it seems as if I should get the BEF to prevent issues.
My questions is - how do I obtain a BEF for my jb4 ff ISO? I can't seem to find that information.

Gotta buy a Cobb and use it to load up the back end flash, not sure if there are any other options. Best bet is to buy a used V2, I see them going for around $400.

Yes, and BMS has the BEF to go with your JB4. It is free, just upload it with the AP.

From my understanding, the only reason to get a BEF on a stock-turbo N55 is to allow a higher % of ethanol.
I am running about E40 now but it's as much as I do without a BEF. With a BEF, you can run E65ish which achieve full benefits of E85. Of course at that point it's important to monitor your logs / trims / HPFP because you might also need a stage 2 LPFP upgrade to be able to feed all that ethanol to the HPFP. I know what you mean about "violent" because my map 5 with E40 feels downright violent when it fully spools, especially with xDrive traction. |
