Anyone have these and think they are worth the extra $$? Need to get new pads/rotors (http://www.autoanything.com/brakes/s...reet-brake-kit) and was going to throw the lines in my cart as well.

I do.

I upgraded to them when I got new rotors and pads alone with a flush.

Is it /needed/?

No.

But then again, are my cross drilled rotors needed? Nah.

My theory was, might as well do this since I am already here. It's preventative, people claim it helps feedback on the pedal, since I did an entire upgrade, I can not claim this.

Long story short, just do it, pops.

I got 6 Stoptech brakelines for $94 shipped (TH Motorsports).

They are local to me and $99 buys you 4 lines, as far as I remember the 2 lines that go on the subframe by the fuel tank aren't included.

If your stock lines are still good, I really don't see the point of replacing them.

I did mine, all 6 of the lines. Couldn't notice any difference at all, on street and track. Definitely won't do it again, considering all the trouble of fitting the rear mid lines that run between the rear subframe and bleeding the air out of the system after install...

Pads and caliper guide pin bushings are going to make a lot more difference on the other hand.

Actually any brake line upgrade is an improvement over pedal feel. If you are replacing rotors and pads, I'd defintely recommend changing the brake lines.

The ER and Stop tech brake lines we sell are very popular. It firms up the pedal feel by making a more linear action in the brakes. As a result, you need less pressure on the pedal to brake and the action is linear.

It's one of those modifications I do on all my vehicles as I hate spongy brakes.

Makes a difference when you start upgrading calipers. The brake pressure fluctuation will be more pronounced. Additionally, they sometimes melt, just like the rubber seals on the calipers. I have seen braided stainless steel lines with plastic liner melt too.

so apparently stopTech has the wrong front brake line model number listed for my car.....grrr model number is : 940.34013

mechanic called me and said they were about 4" too long and he wasnt comfortable putting them on.

Anyone know someone with a 2010 328 xdrive with front stainless steel brake lines by stopTech? Right now the car has the OEM lines in the front, and new stainless in the back. Would really like to have the same front and back.

Mechanic said the front lines are fine and is a reputable shop...but i just want to be fancy i guess

I agree with the mechanic, fluid need to travel lengths to make pressure and longer would slightly reduce the pressure I guess.
Hopefully your will find the right lines soon!

No.

In theory there may be a little more effort required due to the flex of the extra 4" of flexible brake line, but in practice you'd never feel it.

More likely the mechanic was concerned with the lines rubbing on something.

Whether you feel it or not it would be there and rubbing would not be a concern for a experience mechanic as they will solve that in a minute. However, on the other hand, longer brake travel and slower brake reaction would not be as easily solvable issue. Brake lines (not limited only to the flex lines) are carefully designed by engineers from the length to the bends in the lines on which upon the flow depends with primarily two things in mind: safety and performance.

mechanic was concerned with both rubbing and the reaction due to the extra length.

Good news: spoke w/ StopTech and they said the part listed for the 335xi model is about 3 inches shorter which should work. Hopefully I can exchange these parts soon.

In case anyone wants to do this, you should order part # 950.34023 and NOT 950.34013 as the website suggests
