It doesn't matter, because you, I or the next guy can't prove this one way or another... all items on CL are sold as is...

Think about it this way... if you bought a stolen car unknowingly and the cops came to confiscate it... you're gonna say well I bought it from that guy and blah blah blah... do you think the Police will give you money back for your car lol? They will say do due diligence when purchasing.

Think about this guys,

What if the scammer was the buyer???

Maybe he just wanted to intimidate the seller with the story and scamm him for money or another cellphone. I would have asked for proof that shows it was stolen before I give any money back.

I know he gave the money back with no hassle but in todays world everything ispossible.

Towards the end of the video, the buyer gave the seller the phone back, so I doubt it.

I sell phones online, I've sold thousands of phones and I've had 1 guy tell me the phone was stolen. When you are constantly getting phones, it's very time consuming to check each individual phone. I like to get the phones and flip them asap because phone prices fluctuate a lot online, a few days can be the difference between a decent profit or braking even.

I always issue a refund if there is an issue, and I send the phone back to my supplier. Phone suppliers I've worked with usually give a 60 day guarantee on the items, so if this seller was unaware, he shouldn't have an issue getting his money back from his supplier.

I do not sell phones online anymore due to the very reason you stated.
There are so many nice pre-paid phones at a local city/county auctions. Even if 1/2 are good, it can be really profitable.
I get lazy and just post MSID EIN etc on the description. Some told me not to do that, but I was lazy.

Ya I'm getting really tired of it. I'm trying to get in to affiliates and making niche websites. Working on one now that's slowly making its way through googles ranks.

It is bummer that eBay do not let external weblink on their description anymore. Glad that it is working out for you. I am still on ebay amzn.

something like this kind of just happened to me a month or so ago. I bid on a new Amazon fire tablet 8.9" HDX 32gb (sell new for like $500) won the bid at $190. I received the tablet a few days later and tried to register it and amazon reported it as stolen. I asked the guy for a refund and he said "no, not unless you can prove I stole it". Naturally i didn't like the reply i got back, very rude. So i took it to the local police gave his info and he lived two counties over, they arrested him for selling stolen property and he was on probation lol (pretty sure the detective that followed up said he was on prob for robbery too).

But the first phone he got from him the day before was still in his possession. If it was really reported as stolen, he should have returned back to the seller. Instead he came with the attitude of taking a second phone without paying for it or cash.

Comon sense would have been for him to return the first phone he bought from him.
