My car is in the process of having the engine replaced so I figured it would be good time to ask for a quote for a performance exhaust. Quoted with labor $2,200. I laughed and said never mind. That's sounds completely far fetched to me even with dealer prices.

Anyone think it would be an issue if I bought the exhaust somewhere else and had them install it?

That does seem a bit high. I've seen $1600 installed at my local dealership. Have you looked into the PE mod at all?

My dealership has it for 1300.00. Went up from 700.00 not too long ago. They say they changed manufacturers for it but it looks like the same exact exhaust as the 700.00 PE. I think BMW knows how popular the PE is and they started raising prices on it.

It blew and seized during normal driving. Still under factory warranty it's being replaced. The Dealer SA told me one of my Pistons was in my oil pain.

That performance exhaust quote is a joke, I got one installed for $1375. It should not be more than that considering it's just mufflers.

They set their prices based on demand I think. It's was 700.00 like 2 months ago. Now it's ridiculous. I must say that the sound from the mufflers is phenomenal. It's not loud unless you want it to be. I run it with the PPK (mild factory tune) and it sounds sweet.

Agreed try and get the PE installed for under 1400.00 they will negotiate if you push them

Exhaust install should only be 1-2 hours.. Its pretty simple.

It's pretty sad how these dealerships are inflating the prices so high. It's even more pathetic how people actually pay the ridiculous prices. I would never consider paying so much for a simple installation. I don't care if it's on a bmw, or a ferrari. I don't even care if I had millions of dollars. It's about the principle, and it's kind of insulting to think that they think you're dumb enough to pay such a price. If I went to a dealership and they told me that they would charge 3k for the installation of an exhaust that only increased sound performance, I would probably lift both of my legs up past my ears and fart in front of the salesman sitting at the desk.

All you need is a Sawzall and basic hand tools to DIY. It is a bunch of clamps and direct replacement with the hangers and layout.

Didn't Tischer have a ridiculously cheap deal for like 600 bucks recently!?

With that said...the PE us outstanding and a great addition. I paid around $1100 and another 100 to have a muffler shop put it in for me. Having watched the install I would do it myself if I had to do it allover.

Tischer had a deal about 2 months ago. I was able to get the PE at that time in the low $500s. That price only lasted about a day before they got overwhelmed with orders.
