BMW iPod Hookup. Factory vs Dealer install
Brief story, my friend and i both have 2007 335i with iDrive. His is a November 2006 production, mine is May 2007 production. I got the factory iPod hookup in the armrest, and my friend is very upset that it wasn't an option for his 2007 model. BMW website states "This option is available in all 3 and 5 Series, as well as the all-new X5, beginning with March 2007 production." He really wants to add it to his car but the dealer says that he can't do it.
My question is, can he add the glovebox dealer installed iPod hookup? If so, is there any difference in the way the factory installed iPod hookup in the armrest works versus the aftermarket iPod hookup that goes in the glovebox? Whenever i research the dealer installed part, it shows that you have to choose CD, then pick CD1, CD2, CD3 etc.....Is this in fact how it will be if he adds it through the dealer? Mine, as pictured below, allows me to actually select my ipod and choose artists, genre etc...without going throught he CD1, CD2 etc. Also, for the dealer part what is the part number? Online stores say it is part #65110403650; however, the BMW dealer says it is part #65110036446. This is previous version (dealer installed option) http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/1...w.ipod.500.jpg Current factory installed option - http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a7/...121307_001.jpg |
