We all have heard abt it

I know we all know the life of our water pumps... in my case the high temp light came on (yellow) and then after the traffic light turned green, it turned red and car shutoff, hazards turned on automatically .... the question is my oil temp was still 240 .. thats a useless gauge if my engine was about to get deep-fried, I wanna know what my engine temp is not ... whatever

Indy replaced for $1128 with TS

runs like a champ again 70k on the clock, if someone curious abt tune (not that it matters here) stg1+FMIC map from MHD

Yeah I thought there was a way to make your water temp show up in the check systems but not sure how to do it, anybody know?

Keep in mind I drive an hour each way in stop and go traffic under 20 mph... so pump was probably put to max labor.. I think next is alternator and starter

Mine died at 28k a few weeks ago. BMW cooling systems have gone from bad to worse in the last 20 years. I wish I could find another car I enjoy driving as much as a 3 series. I was considering a 2 series before the water pump died. I know the 2 will have the same issues...

I changed my proactively at 92,000. It was on the original pump until then with absolutely no problems. I just felt like it could fail at any time and didn't want to risk it on a road trip. It seems that the pumps last a whole lot longer on highway driven cars.

Dealer did a pressure test and found a small crack in my water pump and it was leaking. Not sure if it was or they were just taking advantage of BMW NA with some warranty work cuz I never complained about it they just replaced it at 44k

70K is about the time you replace it if you haven't already had it fail.

After 70K you are playing with fire.

Hard city driving and bumper to bumper traffic puts a lot of stress on any car. Unfortunately, BMW still can't get their cooling system reliable; probably for job security purposes and keeping costs down.

mine just went out at 65k....I also thought it was strange that my temp gauge did not move anywhere out of a normal range, but the nav and engine limp mode said otherwise.

Replacing wp and tstat on 08 135i with 48k miles... Ridiculous.. Fortunately from the work standpoint, it cam at the right time as in also installing a set of Hexon RR550 turbos, Inlets and new custom charge pipes.

Is their coding required for the thermostat and charge pipe?

Nope. Reset codes should be good. Make sure to run the waterpump and cycle the coolant first
