Major clutch slip around 4500, guess this 100k mile stock clutch just cannot hold the power, and this was in 3rd gear. 4th gear is usually even worse... I guess I am not too surprised, kinda expected it... |

Yea it gets worse the higher the gear your in when those turbos hit their peak power.
I plan on sticking with stock turbos for bit so I went with a 335is clutch and new LUK/OEM DMFW, got 1K miles on it and it's holding all the power with a stock pedal feel pretty happy with the upgrade. I did the job myself so it makes it that much sweeter.

yeah I even heard someone say a guy in Canada was running over 600tq to one for 40,000km, I am sure it wasn't a dmfw, but still says a lot for the clutch. I hope to get some type of upgraded stock frame in the future and be around 525 or 550, basically whatever the limit of the dmfw, because for now its a DD and I cannot live with the chatter.

Have you tried running a little less boost in the midrange to try and mitigate the slip until you can get a new clutch?

If his clutch was like mine it would grab fine some days and not others. Even running the 1/4 it would slip one pass and not another.

I bought the car with a meth kit on it, and it felt pretty strong. the clutch didn't slip then and it was probably tuned right on the edge of slipping i think he had it getting around 19 psi on meth, guestimate is around 410-420whp.
I removed meth and procede and went jb4 with back end and started running e85. it was fine at 40ish %, but when i went with the stage 2 LPFP i also upped it to 70% E85 and ran more boost, and it was just too much for the clutch at that point. Now im running straight e85, but i think im going lower the boost 1 psi, because at 20psi in the midrange HPFP is really taking a crap, and tweak a few more things to get HPFP up. Yeah back on E70 ish the clutch wouldn't slip evertime, but now with straight e85 and a deg more timing and maybe a psi more boost it just wont hold anything full throttle in gears 3rd and above. So yeah the clutch really isn't bad per say i still drive it everyday and its fine, other than a little engagement rattle at times, probably due to an old DMFW or something. and engagement is ok, its pretty long and seems like it can be a bit unpredictable at time. doesn't ever seem like it acts the same, sometimes its nice sometimes not so much. im not really in much of a hurry unless it lets go bad, i may even try to do a 1/4 mile pass on it before i replace it just so i can launch it and smoke it a little and then replace it all with new. |

What part of SC are you in? I'm near Charleston and there are a group of us down this way that try to get together for meets, dynos, track, etc. |
