Ok so towed it to the dealer. The guy called me and told me it was the throttle motor. No idea what he's talking about. Waited all week had them just get it done and didn't fix the problem. Now he's thinking it might be the jb4 or dme and will let me know. If it's the jb4 or the DME I should just get it out of there right? I told him I'm not paying for the misdiagnosed part. I'm thinking a new dme might be around 2k or more?

You took the car to the dealer with the JB4 installed?

Yeah I mean no warranty on the car so it doesn't make much difference. Plus I'm not about to take off my meth injection.

I hear you but its like your giving them an easy way out, now they have something to blame if they do not know how to fix the issue. My car is an 07 with 110k miles and i still remove the tune (its a cobb) just so they do not blame it on the aftermarket part.

Good luck with your car and keep us updated.

When my serpentine belt broke one of my VANOS solenoids happened to die at the same time. After reading your post I'm wondering if sudden voltage fluctuation kills the VANOS solenoids. My car ran horrible just like yours and I got half engine light.

Once I replaced the sensors all was well....something to think about

Do you think it's possible the jb4 played any role in this? I want to reinstall it after the DME is replaced. I CANNOT go back to 300 hp

From what I've read, it seems to be a high failure part. I dont believe the JB4 influenced it.

Nothing to do with it. Mine blew too. I had Cobb. Others have blown with no tune. This is the fault of crappy BMW engineering for these mosfets.

So finally got my car back from the stealership with a new DME. No choice but to have them do it or pay 4-5 hours of diagnostic. They ripped out the jb4 and cut one of the wires going to the meth injection kit. When I reinstall the jb4 and reattach that wire do I need to do anything special or should all my settings be saved?
