335 xi and tuning
Hello from Switzerland!
I am running a 335 xi with BMC filter and KV 3 coil overs. UR catted downpipes are waiting in my garage. I am planning on tuning the engine with either JB2 or SSTT since they offer a decent amount of added power, still they are not on the top as for as power output and torque are concerned which might be good for the drivetrain (xi!!). What are the impressions of other members here in the forum with xi`s an piggybacks? I was reading that some xi people went back again to stock... Thanks |

Don't have the xi, but have the JBS2 and the PROcede V2.
The JBS2 is very impressive, drop in and forget about it. Power delivery like stock, just stronger. The PROcede has been the strongest piggyback for a long time. In the last few weeks Vishnu developed maps based on V2 technology, which allow moderate setups as well. ATM I use settings with my otherwise still stock car providing ~ 380hp , 520NM crank with a flat torque curve. Feels nice and works perfect for me, up to now. Boost is around 13 - 13.5 psi, 2.5 psi over stock. - Eugen |

Thanks for the replies!
My main concern ist torque; 520 Nm is quite a lot; is the xi drivetrain able to handle that much torque...? On the other hand: Alpina is also planning an xi version for winter 2008. The alpina models are putting down about 530 Nm torque and 380 PS at the crank (they claim 500 NM and 360 PS, but thats just Alpina ). I dont think they are building a new drivetrain for the xi models, so I guess the standard xi drivetrain might get along with >500 Nm torque. How much torque is JB2 putting down? I guess it must be under 500 Nm... |

I have the 335i and the JB2R with the H Pill on the way. I love it, no limp codes or problems with mine. Installation was not difficult and the customer service was exceellent.
I got what I expected and then some...what I mean by that is I have not put any racefuel in my car yet to see what the "R" upgrade will feel like, yet the standard JB2 performs like I envisioned the "R" to do...it pulls very hard from a stop and mid range power is also significant. All this being said, I preferred the JB2 because it simply intercepts information, changes the values and lets the cars ECU do its job...all safety systems are intact and I can't see anyway that the car is in any danger or forsee any reason why I would be taking away any life in the engine, transmission or turbo...the only thing that's losing life are my tires!! I really enjoy my car and the JB2 has enhanced the performance making it that much better of a car.

Hi...i have a 2008 335xi sedan with the AA xede piggyback and it def. hauls ass. When i switch the valet back to stock it feels like the car wasnt fast stock. Stock doesnt give you that rush of power like the piggyback does. I have the 6mt and i havent had any problems nor does it feel like its being strained. good luck with your choice....i would also love to try the v2 procede setup in the xi. These xis hook up so well any amount of power and this car can handle it.

The highest rated HP machine mated to xDrive by BMW is the X5 4.8i @ 350 HP. Presumably you can reasonably go above that and be safe. The xDrive system uses a multi-plated clutch to 'bleed' off torque to the front axle that would otherwise be directed to the back. Thus, if you managed to completely shred the clutch you'd end up with a heavy 335i.
I had no problems with the SSTT. Indeed it transformed the car. I still couldn't get the stock RFT's to chirp, though. I took it out for the winter because I don't need it for the winter. |
