V2.0.2 review and impressions
I’ve had v2.0.2 for several days now and would like to provide my impressions. I’ve had every version of Procede since v1.45, including v2 beta, and I would say that this product has progressed very well and I have been impressed thus far.
Limp Modes I’ve had my v2.0.2 for several days now, and have not experienced any limp modes or engine codes at all, despite repeated 3rd to 4th gear shifts to redline. I must have picked the right map. I have been using 91 oct gas, and with the torque levels set to 92%. In fact, my car has not thrown any codes for all versions of Procede I have had since v1.45 (about 10k-mi ago), except initially for v2 beta in which we had to sort out some bugs. Drivability Each iteration of Procede became smoother, especially when the car is in D or DS automatic mode. As I recall for v1.45 and v1.47 in D or DS automatic mode, the car would have a tendency to surge (sort of like a rubber band effect) in the 1st and 2nd gears. The rush to redline would not feel as linear, although there was lots of lag-free torque through the entire power band. However, with earlier versions of the Procede I felt it was smoother to drive the car by shifting manually in DS mode. With v2.0.2, both the D and DS in automatic are well suited for driving in traffic, and with spirited driving as well. I read somewhere on this forum that the low end torque of V2.0.2 has been decreased a bit, but the torque curve is a lot flatter. My experience thus far seems to reflect this from a drivability standpoint. Power I felt that there was most gain in power going from stock to v1.45. V1.47 was about the same as v1.45. V2 beta was a little more significant, with the engine revving quicker to redline ever so slightly. V2.0.2 is more impressive, and now the engine revs even quicker to redline, notably from like 5-7k rpms. Felt like I had to hold on and apply the throttle more gingerly than before. It might also because I also just added an ITG filter, which claims some additional power, and the weather has been getting cooler. I was in 3rd gear going into 4th, accelerating on a straight and flat road, and the traction control would come on, very impressive. But the extra power is quite manageable. In DS auto mode, I could stomp the throttle from a stand still and the car will shoot forward cleanly and smoothly with little bit of wheel spin provided that DSC was on. The power curve seems well suited to the gearing and the tranny, except 1st gear is a bit on the short side. In terms of performance gain, I would rank in order the following according to “butt dyno”: v2.0.2 (91 oct) > v2 beta (93 oct) > v2 beta (91 oct) > v1.47 (91 oct) = v1.45 (91 oct) >>> stock See my other thread in this forum on “Run with Gallardo SL”. I had v2 beta at the time, and I held a Gallardo Superleggera to about 130, and he later pulled 3 CL on me before we stopped. I am guessing v2.0.2 will do better. I have driven many high powered exotic cars in the 400-600hp range, and the Procede still impresses me in acceleration and refinement, especially on the highway in which there is ample torque everywhere for high speed cruising. Track Driving While I had v2 beta, I also took my car to Thunderhill. Ambient temperature exceeded 90degF in the afternoon, but my oil temperature was mostly in the 265-285deg range (I had oil cooler retrofit), and I had no limp modes after 5x20min sessions. As with street driving, the power delivery was linear and predictable, and there were no surprises in the power delivery. Traction was quite manageable, although the DSC was working quite a bit. I would say that the car was not any harder to drive than stock. I felt that the higher ambient temperature did rob the car of some power, although sensations of speed on the track is all relative. I guess an aftermarket intercooler should help. But I don't have any plans to install one since I don't track my car that often. Several things I would like to improve for the track is to try to reduce the body roll and understeer a bit. Sway bars should help. Reliability / Maintenance Ever since I’ve had my car (now about 1-yr, 13k-mi), I have not had any unscheduled maintenance, so at least the Procede did not make the car any less reliable. As with turbo cars, I try to change my oil more frequent. In terms of fuel economy, I don't think there has been any effect, since I usually average about 24mpg in my daily commute. Overall, I am impressed with this product and definitely recommend it. It provides an impressive level of power I am quite comfortable with given my current setup, without compromising refinement. I look forward to see what else Shiv has in his sleeve for future iterations of the Procede.

Very good review. I fully agree using the final v2.0.26AT map ( Dec.11th, 2007 ). In addition to your experience this map has been tested briefly from sflgator, driver72 and myself. The datalogs show impressive repeatable data and no boost spikes at all. I am still on 90% and may switch to 92% over the weekend.

With the exception of not making quite as much power up top as I'd like (another 10 rwhp would be great) and taking a bit too much power out down low (+6-8 rwhp/rwtq 3000-5000 rpms). And then fix the big power drop in the last 300 rpms Sounds like v2.0.3 to me. |

The power drop at high rpm may fit with the concern Dinan expressed about too much stress. This may be the safe tune.

I love my N54, but I'm a rev junkie. I want an M3.
