Not really big news, as we all knew this was coming, but thought that I would mention that BMW The Hague (Netherlands) serviced my car today. When I asked why they used 5W30 instead of the usual 0W30, they responded "now that we use Shell, we're only using 5W30".

Here's the good news: They're charging me just EUR19.00 per liter instead of 26,00 per liter for the Castrol Edge 0W30. Both oils are LL04.

Have dealers in the states made the switch yet?

Not sure. I do know that when I ordered BMW motor oil in the past, it only came in 1 quart bottles. The new ones are 1 liter but both are 5w30 LL01.

26 euro per liter?!?! my god... I got mad paying $26/5L for the stuff

You think someone will scream since I just bought a case (12 liters) of BMW 5w30 for $65 + $15 shipping (~72 Euro) ?

Yup, gas/oil products are generally 3X the price as the USA.

Fortunately, French wine and Belgian beer is 1/3 the price here.

So no Shell sightings in the USA dealerships?

Oh don't I know that... this person got hooked on Paulaner, Erdinger, Franzikaner, etc, etc..... Still haven't cracked the supposed wholesaler in Washington DC who supposedly gets cases of Paulaner Krystal Weisen so I'll settle for Heffe for now.

But you can keep the Wine.

yup, same as there. last nov BMW announced the partnership, it's worldwide.
