N55 Water pump error code

Car: 2011 335i N55 no mods, bone stock

DME error code: 377A, Coolant Pump Shutdown: Pump Block
"The fault is recognized when the electric water pump deactivates in response to recognized seizure. Potential problem: - Foreign matter/contamination in coolant"

My Car gave me the overheat warning which required me to pull over after 150 miles of driving and turn the car off. I pulled the the above code. I started the car up the next day and drove back another 150 miles without any problems. Was this a fluke? I have searched the above code and no one has posted anything about it in respects to water pump failure. Anyone with experience with this? Does this required replacement of water pump? Does this just require coolant flush? Does this require skillful neglect? Thanks for your help in advance.

That is what I had. Ended up replacing the pump and thermostat just to be safe. I drove for 4 days with the code and overheated 2 times on my way home from work. I would say order parts but you can still drive if needed.

Your pump is probably about to take a shit. Prepare yourself and order parts now.

+1, recommend replacing the pump.

Snag this kit for $515. You'll be set for life with FCP Euro's lifetime replacement/unlimited returns. Very much worth it for the water pump. If you read stories online, they've even taken back 4 year old suspension parts. Great company!

I had the same thing. Ended up being a water pump as I predicted. If you're under cpo or extended warranty it'll be covered.

I'm waiting on parts still. But I have not thrown a code 2 days. I kind of wish it would to justify replacing ewp and thermostat.

Anyone DIY this? I studied the bavauto diy youtube video but the n55 xdrive setup is much more difficult. The sub frame prevents access to the rearward bolts on the both the water pump and thermostat. There is also no access to the water pump hoses. Any tips or tricks are very welcome.
