///M shift knob question
So I've been trying to decided what shift knob to get and am currently divided between the ///M knob from the e46? and the perforated m-tech one.
Does anyone know if the perforated one is weighted and how much it weighs? Any opinions between the two? Thanks!!

I've had the M-Sport (perf) knob since shortly after I got my car (almost a year now), and it's a vast improvement over the stock knob. It's a little heavier, a little shorter, and a lot less wiggly-feeling, if that makes any sense
![]() With the M-Sport I think the transmission feels "normal", where before it felt cartoonishly long and shaky. I might consider a proper SSK to reduce shift throws some more but the new knob by itself is definitely money well spent. |

I have the e46 M knob and have driven a friends car with the e9x M sport perf knob. Personally I prefer the e46 one in shape and feel and looks. The perf one is nice, but if you get it be sure to at least get the matching e brake handle or it looks out of place. e46 is also cheaper and you don't have to mess around with the boot.

Thanks for the replies, still don't what I'm going to get.
I suppose I could order both and try them out and then sell the one I don't want. ![]()

not sure, but I have the E46 knob also, and the shape and feel is very good. My impression is that the E46 ZHP knob is slightly weightier than the m-tech perforated.
