Wheel sizes
I really like the CSL syle rims but I think now I will go for some rims that offer a big weight saving.
The question is, if I wanted to not use 15mm spacers on all 4 wheels (negating any weight saving), then what size alloys would I need? Thanks (Model: 2009 335i MSport Highline DCT)

A spacer reduces the wheel offset.
So if your existing wheel is for example ET37 and 8.5" wide with a 15mm spacer, then a ET22 wheel at 8.5" wide would sit the same with no spacer. If you fit wider wheels, that muddies the waters a little bit, but roughly every inch of wheel will make the wheel stick out 12mm more. So a 9.5" ET37 wheel with no spacer will look (within a few mm) the same as a 8.5" ET37 wheel with 15mm spacer. If you have a combination of a different offset and different width you can combine the two. There are calculators online where you can input your existing wheel details and then input the specs of prospective replacement wheels and it'll overlap them and show you how they'll sit with respect to each other. |
