Can I install TPMS if my 2007 335i doesn’t come with TPMS
I have a 2007 335i E90 with no sports package, the wheels are the 17 inch stock wheels and Run-flat tires, I always thought it comes with TPMS until the mechanic told me it doesn’t when they change the wheels and tires.
I never saw a TPMS light on my dash either; I would like to buy used TPMS and install them, will this work? Do I have to re-code the ECU to receive the signal or something? Thank you for your help! |

If your '07 is a very early build, it will have the FTM system instead of the TPMS. The info below is from your owner's manual:
"Flat Tire Monitor FTM* The concept The Flat Tire Monitor monitors tire pressures while the car is being driven. The system reports any significant loss of pressure in one tire in relation to another. If a tire loses pressure, its rolling radius changes, and this in turn alters the speed of rotation. This change is detected and is reported as a flat tire." (Look up FTM for more info in your manual.) Tom |

You are lucky to have the system that you have. No sensors to replace and swapping wheels is easier. Dot mandated tpms sensor based systems in all US cars a few years back otherwise BMW would have stayed with the ABS reading system as it is on your car. BMW still does not use TPMS sensors in the European cars and everyone is happy.

I am in the same boat... and I LOVE not having to bother with TPMS. Mine was a NOV 2006 build.
So, I put a chrome sleeve on my rubber valves to make them look integrated into the winter wheels with Conti DWS. Yes, I painted the calipers red after installing StopTech drilled and slotted rotors, Muteki neochrome lugs and stud conversion.

I love the TPMS system on my Boxster as it gives an accurate dash readout of the pressure in each tire and I'm getting too lazy and arthritic to check them manually in my old age!
But since BMW didn't see fit to implement that, I fail to see the advantage over their FTM system. Tom |

FTM will work as long as you're using sizes near the same overall tire diameter.

Thanks, man! 220M wheels will look fantastic on your ride!
Best setup I have read for 19-inch 220Ms were: 225/35F,265/30R or 235/35F, 275/30R G/L and post pics!
