Lacquer peel

As per the title I have recently acquired an e93 330i and it seems to have peeling lacquer beside the two ridges on the roof.

I'll take some photos upon the suspect area but in the meantime would this be covered buy a BMW warrantee or is it something that I would have to sort out myself? If the latter, is this a relatively easy fix or is it quite involved?

The car is metallic black.

There's no cheap fix for lacquer peel, it's a respray of the area.

Ok thanks. Does anyone know what the BMW warrantee is for paintwork?crhee are no chips to cause the lacquer to do what it's done so I can only assume it's a fault with the paint work.

7 year warranty on paintwork. The only way you'll know if it's covered it to see a main dealer.

I spoke to them yesterday and they have said to speak to the servicing manager but told me that it wouldn't be covered because it is a 57 plate. It appears that this is not a problem that has only just occurred and it is quite unsightly on a sunny day.

Will keep the thread updated.

Interesting John. How long have you had the lacquer peeling on each car and how much worse has it got? Mine is black in colour so I wonder whether it is colour dependent? Perhaps because it gets so hot in the sun it would mean the peeling happens...
