Chargepipe and BOV question?
Hi
I was looking into buying a Vsfr chargepipe and was thinking about getting one with the HKS BoV. Do you have to calibrate the BOV or anything? Also what is with these HKS BOV that I see for like silly cheap? Those work good at all? Thanks |

Wow been actually reading alot of good reviews on the fake ones. Cant believe its so hard to tell the difference. I will get a Real one tho wouldnt want something happening to my turbos when this fails and I'm getting compressor surge. Whats the best chargepipe/BOV combo at the best price thats still good? From what I see looks like tial/vsfr? Any type of adjustments needed on the BOV or if I order one is it pretty much plug in and play?

There is a lot of fake HKS BOVs floating around so be careful. If you haven't looked yet look at the ER CP. Best one out there.

I think that may be a cheap knock off still looking around but if I run that CP and something happens with the BOV ill just put a genuine one on. Keeping an eye out for any compressor surge or something. I think my stock DV are leaking because I see oil at the clamp thing that you turn to take the DV off. Plus the sound of the DV seems quieter which makes me wonder. Running 18 psi with backend/jb4. Also see spikes in boost at shift points under wot

Some bov are adjustable come with different springs and some are pnp. Once again, it's all on what you prefer. Main key to happiness and success on your is research. What one person prefer or like might not be exactly what you're looking for. As always, happy modding.

Ineed, i like me tial because of the quitness at lower boost pressures and low loads.
You can commute without sounding like you gonna be part of 2 fast 2 furious part 253637 |

Shouldn't really hear it at low boost? I mean is it that much louder than the stock DV $2 BOV mod? Reason I ask is because I just purchased the HKS/ VRSF CP.... Might beable to change the order... But normal commute for me I don't think I even use any boost. Bought this product with the HKS BOV option for 450 shipped.
http://www.vr-speed.com/vrsf-chargep...i-n54-n55.html I have also noticed some of these HKS BOV's on youtube that it is open at idle? That doesnt seem right? Couldn't you suck something up from it sorry I'm kind of new to BOV's as its my first *turbo* car. I know some BOV's have an adjustment but unsure how to adjust it properly cant seem to find a DIY on here. Last edited by mightbaal; 08-02-2015 at 06:45 AM.. |

They are open at idle, or anytime you aren't on the throttle.
As for the hks, you get a whistle no matter what boost level you are at. I had one for a day years ago. Never again |

The VRSF is a good pipe and the HKS is genuine. There are a lot of knocks offs of the HKS BOV, so if it looks to good to be true it likely is.

The ECS link is a fake/knock off HKS.
We sell a few dozen of these a month and they're becoming a more popular option for folks who like a louder BOV. If you want a quieter/less expensive option I'd recommend the Tial, it's the most popular bov option. As a comparison, to the other brands mentioned, our CP offers one of the smoothest transitions from 2.5" to 3" and all of our chargepipes are the "long" version. There's no upsells for a capped meth bungs or finishes and we include a larger o-ring that offers a better seal than the OEM due to it's larger overall coverage. Our chargpipe has been proven to handle over 30psi @ 860whp. There's dozens of positive reviews available on this forum and our website and we offer a lifetime guarantee against fitment, quality and any other warranty related issues ![]() |
