Strange Homelink Mirror Situation

Hey guys, hope you're all having a nice weekend.

Well I bought my 2009 328i used, about 1 1/2 - 2 yrs ago, and always noticed my rear view mirror does not autodim and the Homelink buttons do not work. So I finally got curious (and bored) enough to take a look myself and see if I could fix it. So I followed some guides and basically got the whole upper console and mirror off to have a good look at the wiring.

Basically I found that it looks like my car did not come with the Homelink mirror, and I say that because in the upper console I could not find a cable that is supposed to be plugged into the mirror. The power socket in the mirror had nothing plugged into it when I took off the mirror. Am I missing something / is the cable hiding somewhere in my upper console that I can't see? I attached pictures in which you can see 1) My mirror has the socket with nothing plugged in 2) There is no wire in the upper console to go into the mirror, just the rain sensor.

So if I want to use my Homelink buttons I assume I'll have to buy some sort of retrofit kit for the wiring? I'm gonna call my dealership tomorrow and ask them if they have any idea why my car has the Homelink mirror but doesn't seem to be equipped to use it... lol.

PS The first image is just following that wire that you see going to the left in the 3rd/second to last image all the way to where is comes out of the headliner in that rubber tube. Sorry the sun was in the way lol

Regards

From what I recall some base models that weren't equipped with auto wipers/auto dim rear view mirror then there is no harness and that seems to be the case here. A retrofit is going to be very costly. I'm just going off the top of my head so I may be wrong about base models not having the harness.

Just did some searching + reading and looks like I found the retrofit wiring kit for $32 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=PH73-USA-07_2007_E90N_BMW_328i&diagId=51_5928#61120434330. The mirror would be the main cost, but I already have that xD
