My friend and I use to do donut on grass and we use to call it Duke of Hazarding becuase the end result was similar to what happen to the General Lee during the show. Keep in mind the show went through 250 to 350 General Lee's

That's exactly the video that sprung to mind of the dangers of going fast and sideways on grass etc.

I don't understand what happened. That field did not contain any rocks, it was flat/even, and without any hazards like trees, fences, etc.

Lets be honest though... Who after reading this thread, doesn't want to go out and buy a $500 beater, and give it hell in some field... My buddy was given an early toyota celica one time, and we were too young to drive. So we used to beat around his (rural) neighborhood, offroading, trying to do burnouts and such. Best times ever...

The field does not contain any rocks, it is fairly flat/even, and without any hazards like trees, fences, you name it. Also, the field is twice the width and length of a runway, so the physical size should not be a problem.
Maximum speed is about 40 Kph or 25 mph

Sorry for bad english, it is not my native!

What can it possible harm?
Wet the grass and don't be afraid to go over 60!

It's because the wheel digs into the ground. Seen some videos where that makes the car flip and roll too.
Going sideways at high speed on grass is possibly even more dangerous/damaging than tarmac because of the possibility for wheels to dig in which will break them off, damage suspension or flip the car.
