bit of a random one.....

do 1 series back boxes fit on 3 series beemers?

a friend of mine has a recently removed 130i back box, can I be a proper cheap skate and fit it to my 318i? I don't want any gains from it, just fancy twin tail pipes.

I'd think no, they're quite a different shape.

really? I thought they looked almost identical when I stuck my head under mine after removing the 1 series version... hence the question.

the 3 series backboxs are rectangular:

ahhhh I see I see.... only looked under the middle of the bumper and so saw the right hand edge (looking at the photos) and they seemed quite similar.

I can see now the hangers don't match at all.
