Intake Valves at 36K miles - take a look

These are how my intake valves look at only 36K miles. Doesn't look too bad but there's some carbon build up.

Car is 335i (N54) Full Bolt On, no meth. Been running mostly crap 91 octane with the addition of 5 gallons of E85 this past year.

I think people are forgetting what a port fuel injection car would look like and that it would be squeeky clean at this mileage. That being said, yea we've seen worse at this same mileage too.

Question, and maybe a silly one. Did you have to bump the starter for each cylinder? Or are some valves closed at the same time?

Yes, no matter what, you'll need to bump the starter to do all the valves. It's impossible for all the valves to be open or closed at once.

How do you go about bumping the starter? My Dad has a walnut blasting setup and I'm considering doing this procedure myself.

Bump the starter or simply turn the crank bolt till the vavles are closed....you can see (sometimes hear if its quiet) the valves close....dirty job but not too difficult....
