Bluetooth streaming
About 1 of 10 times I get this when I initiate streaming either Pandora or SiriusXM. The rest of the time it looks like this. Any way from coding to select the former permanently?

You mean having it display various artists instead of unknown? That just has to do more with the app you're using and your phone in how it transfers the media information over.

No that's not correct. I recently discovered that once streaming starts with the 2nd image showing and I disconnect or un-pair the phone and then reconnect or re-pair the phone I get the first pic consistently. I only use two apps, Sirius and Pandora so this isn't about apps.
I'm just wondering what could be done to cause a default to the first image. Also I'm curious about updating the firmware. I've gotten mixed responses. Some say that doing the firmware update will allow my screen to show more detailed info on Sirius and Pandora the way it shows in 2015 BMWs that I've rented from AVIS. On the other hand, some say that the firmware update will over-write or delete all of the existing coding that I've put in place. If so I'd have to go out and schedule a day for coding. |

I am having the same problem! I believe its phone related more! I had an HTC running android 5.1 using Google Music and the info displayed perfectly on screen. I now have a Samsung S6 Edge and i get the same problem you are having that no information is displayed. Its the same Android 5.1 and Google Music but just on a Samsung phone!! Its really odd!! If i connect my iPhone i also get the information displayed.
ODD!!!!!! What phone do you have? Is it a Samsung?? I will try using a different app on mine to test all possibilities! |

I'm using a Blackberry. And just last weekend I rented a 528 and it showed detailed info about what I was streaming on the SiriusXM app. Still wondering if I should ask the dealer to do the Bluetooth update.

I haven't tried the Bluetooth update but deleting your phone profile and connecting it via usb displays the picture and artist info, once you remove it add the music option on your phones Bluetooth settings via Idrive and the artist info is displayed without album cover constantly until you turn off the car... Then it starts all over again

I guess we can close out this post. I went to the dealer and they installed the UPD1008 bluetooth update for me and now all the title and name information works perfectly. It even shows information about the ads that play in between songs. Definitely worth it.
