What are 335i worth?
Hello all. I have been wondering for a little while what are the E90 and E91 335i are really worth. There are plenty of E92 and 93 around to get a good idea how much they are worth. But sadly I can't see many E90 and especially E91's.
There is a massive variance in pricing on 90/91's I ever seen. You get one car with one age and mileage for one price then you get an older car with double the mileage for the same money, crazy. I just got a nice E91 335i and was hard to come up with a price when I bought it. I couldn't find any other to compare the prices. Have you guys noticed this or just me? The fact the E92 and 93 are so common I would say using their values is a good starting point and I would even think they could get more money due to the fact very few come up for sell. |

They're worth what someone is willing to pay for them! An LCI car will be worth more than a pre-LCI, and a touring will probably fetch more than an equivalent saloon. Throw in mileage, spec, gearbox etc into the mix and it's a potential minefield.

These cars good, but now getting old. When I sold my E90 6 months ago the bottom of the market was around £7k, I see there is now one on Autotrader for under £6k, but clearly done lots of miles etc.
At the end of the day as mentioned it's how much some one is willing to pay. E90 were cheaper than E92 new so used guide prices is cheaper. E91 are rare, but as mentioned all these cars getting very cheap and old now so prices will reflect that. I certainly wouldn't buy one to try and make some money from selling it on. Enjoy the car, my old 335i was the best petrol car I've ever owned, these things were made to be driven. Don't worry about the resale value, when the time comes to move on, the market will dictate the price, no amount of speculation/worry will change that ![]() |

I agree with your comments. I just found difficult to compare prices to ensure I wasn't Paying over the top. Took me ages to find my E91 with the spec I wanted and very low mileage. Of all places I ended up getting from my work (leasing company). Very happy with the car and the current 22mpg isn't at this point making me cry.

I disagree that just because the E90 had a lower list price than the others it's worth less.
List price has nothing to do with depreciation. I found that the E90s and E91s actually held a higher price than the equivalent E92/3s mainly due to there being less around for sale. I also noticed that they sold a hell of a lot faster than the others. I would say the E91 is worth the most as they are rarer, followed by the E90 then E93 and finally the E92, just based on numbers for sale and what I've noticed when looking through classifieds ( I've put E92 last as there are loads for sale which will drive prices down)

Give it another 5 years.
More tuning parts will be available for the N54 pre lci engine. The cars will start going up in value at that point as the N54 is a much more sought after engine than the N55 due to tuning support in the long run. It is a stronger engine from factory and so any low milers out there down the road could be worth a bit i think. |

The N55 was only introduced in 2010, so any 2009 LCIs will have the N54.

I was just pointing out these car are made to be driven and used, in the real world is where the 335i really makes sense. Nearly as engaging/fun to drive as a M car, but much lower running costs (repair costs considered), add on the fact they are pratical and comfy, does it really matter regarding the negliable cost difference in E90/91/92?? It's your car, go and enjoy it and stop worring about depreciation - If you want to penny pinch, a 335i is the wrong car for you. I only sold mine because I've gone down a complety different track interms of motoring. But I honestly couldnt see how a brand new M3/M4 was going to be that much better than my old modfied 335i - regardless of the price differential. Which is why I had no problems or regrets about spending ££££ on mine when I had it, even to the point of buying power-folding mirrors to retrofit the week I decided to sell it. If I was forced to have another petrol car again, I would probably end up back in another 335i, but that ain't going to happen ![]() |

Very interesting seeing everyone's point of view. I do agree the E91 is a car you don't see much on the road which could mean it will keep its prices higher. But people change and before we know it everyone will be driving 2 and 3 cylinders and the prices for 6cyl will drop drop and drop.
I have to admit it was be best thing I ever did getting the E91, still enjoying the car. |

I don't think the market has realised the tuning potential of these cars yet. The non-US market isn't that well catered for yet. The N54 engine in the 335i is a beast. You can go to 700HP+ without any internal engine mods.
They are like prototypes of the current M3/M4. The tuning is also relatively cheap for the performance boost you can get. If including import and duty costs on some power enhancements etc. JB4/remap - £300 to £400 - ~80HP Down pipes - £300 - ~40HP cone intake - £150 ~ 10HP methanol injection - £400 ~40HP

My opinion is. E93 E91 E92 E90 E90 is at the bottom of the chain by a long way. Lci e90 is worth less then Lci e91 for anyone to say well mines a Lci etc |

As a 335i owner the subject is a thorney one for me and slightly destabilising for the car's future value in general and the more people that talk about prices and what they are worth the more the 335i values could be damaged IMO by discussing prices.

All comes down how it has been looked after to be honest. I'm not sure about BMWs service regime. I won't be doing the 2 year or 18k servicing. I wi get it services every year. Dot want my car to suffer what Audi S4's suffer due to the long life regime. If on long life all its life the engine will drink tons of oil. Everyone is avoiding cars with std regime.

I'm definitely changing the oil between recommended intervals too. Always have done with all my cars. For the sake of £60-70 or so, it's worth doing.
With regards to the cost of a 335i, the only manual E91 on the market is pre-LCI and is £12,750 with 67k on the clock. |

I think the general type of people that buy estates buy them for a purpose and run them till the wheels fall off. As opposed to the perhaps somewhat frivolous purchasers of sporty coupes and verts.

Pricing will vary depending on many factors. In the end, once you have bought one, it doesn't matter what it is worth. Find one you like and compare it with other similar examples. It isn't destined to be a classic so it's unlikely to ever make you money. The rate of depreciation has probably slowed somewhat now though, so you won't be p*ssing money against a tree if you do buy one for the right price. I bought a well-optioned 2007 E90 M Sport 335i in Black Sapphire Metallic with a Lemon Dakota interior and 6-speed manual for 12,250 quid two years ago. It was a striking car then and still is now, and is somewhat rare with the manual gearbox. I love it to pieces and people still remark on it, even though it isn't a new car. Would I have been happier if I paid 500 quid less at the time? Of course, but it doesn't matter to me now. It does its job extremely well and as many have said, there are few cars available for similar money that do so many things so well. Maybe a B7 S4, but then that timing chain issue.....
