2007 BMW 335d NBT iDrive retrofit

Nice upgrade this. Bye old boring CCC

Cutting off the decorative trim to accommodate the new controller.
The older controller was much larger, so extra plastic trim were made to cover those side holes here.

Fitting the NBT screen into the original CCC screen frame.

New HD screen in place

New wiring for mic

So far so good.

Starting to put things back together.

Now everything is back together

Cheers. Coding takes 5mn, I do retrofits all the time, so I simply reuse the same CAF files.

How much is it to do this? Is it worth it from CIC to NBT? I don't know if it is. I like my CIC and probably shouldnt waste money LOL

My personal opinion:

No CCC / CIC -> NPT upgrade very worth while.

CCC -> NPT upgrade worth while

CIC -> NPT upgrade not worth it

That's just my opinion though. It's a great addition to E9X and nicely executed by the OP.

Yeah if you have CIC and combox already, not huge difference, even though the NBT is a lot faster. You can play movies from USB sticks or even your Android phone with NBT, you can play lossless music files from USB port on NBT too. You can have a few different startup logos, a lot of small improvements like that compared to the CIC.
If you already spent money on a CIC, best next upgrade is probably a SSD hard drive. Will make your CIC a lot faster.
