What kind of bulbs are supported on the 335i?

I'm getting a

. The bulb is fine. No issues from what I can tell but it really is out when I put it in reverse. I tried an LED bulb and this issue still won't go away. I even bought a brand new bulb housing because I thought it might be a bad one. Could it be that I'm not resetting the CEL properly?

I close the doors, put the key in, hit the start button and wait for all the sounds to go away and the CEL as well. Then I hit the odometer reset button and the brake pedal. It drops me into the Check Control menu (I believe) and then I press and hold that little button on the side to reset. I see the reset sign checked but I don't see it actually resetting.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I did. I know it's out. I just don't know what the correct bulbs are to replace a dead bulb. The dead bulb isn't actually dead either. It could very well be that I'm just not clearing the code properly.

Oh, sorry - I misunderstood.

Check out ECS tuning, they have good LED options you can filter by car style/model.

You would need Error free canbus LED's if you want to put them in reverse lights. Not just any old LED will work as it will still throw an error.

Hit up High Performance bulbs (HPB). They have error reverse lights for the E92. I had them on my car and were error free.

You won't need to reset anything for a bulb out error, if the light works the error should go away. If problems persist, your contacts are likely dirty. Clean them with a Q tip and WD-40.

Sounds like a short or faulty wiring or MAYBE a burned bulb.
There is no reset needed for bulb replacements. They go away automatically when the bulb works.

Seems fishy.. Grounding fault is usually a problems when things are fishy.
Have you tried the bulb? You know its good?

I started playing around with the original bulb housing and noticed there was a lot of electrical grease on the bulb and the socket. I cleaned it up a bit and put it back in and guess what? The error went away! For about 20 seconds and then it came back. I'm thinking the grease is interfering? Anyone? I'm using the Sylvania (?) 921 reverse bulbs which BMW recommends.

Thanks!

Clean it off entirly. Unless you use a degreaser, there is enough left on there. Sound friggin fishy to me.. Its a "stick in" wedge type bulb isnt it?

Does the bulb light up when you put the car in reverse?
Have you tried putting 12v directly on the bulb and see if it lights up?

Yes, it's a stick-in wedge type where you just slide it in. I'll need to wipe it off some more and try again. I haven't hooked it up to a 12V. Let me try wiping it again.

Thanks

Ok, I did a more thorough cleaning and this time it fixed the issue without any codes! Yay! I've had this stupid error code for two weeks now and couldn't figure it out. I will never use this electrical grease crap that I found laying around the garage. I bought a bulb housing for no reason.

Thanks

Yeah, I'm not too concerned. I have my cheap eBay LED reverse lights in with no codes. I'm a happy man now. Thanks for your help btw.
