BMW CSL Alloy Tyre Sizes

I'm just wondering what tyre sizes people are running on 8.5j & 9.5j CSL Alloys

I have read the OE Spec Tyre sizes.

I currently have a 235/35/19 front, 265/30/19 rear.

In my opinion these look terrible. The rear tyre looks slightly stretched and the front looks huge in comparison.

Anyone got photos of their CSL setup?

Thanks

Fronts should be 235/35/19, not 40, maybe why they look funny (too higher profile).

If it helps I have CSLs and I have the same tyre set up as you

Although thinking about it I do think the front is abit big, but then my car isn't lowered so I think its the arch gap that gives me that impression

You could probably go up to a 275/30 rear with the 9.5J wheels if you dont like the stretched look.

Are the tyres the same brand? different brands can look visually quite different even in exactly the same size, which might explain why the two ends look so different?

My car currently has horrible budget front tyres the previous owner installed and even though they are standard size and fitment on stock wheels they look horribly stretched. The rears are Eagle F1's and sit nice and square on the rim.

i know what you mean buy the look , my rear has a slight strech on it as i wanted clearance for the tyre when tow'ing i could drop down a size on the front but it would no doubt then ride to harsh , im a 235/35R19 up front and a 255/30R19 up back both on goodyear's as others have said diffrent tyres do have diffrent sidewall designs

Thanks for the reply!

I am thinking of keeping the 265 at the rear and maybe go for a 225/35 at the front.

Now to pick which brand of tyre

why not just go for a 35 profile on the rear as well?

a slightly bigger sidewall will make the stretch not as obvious and be a bit more comparative compared to the fronts.

I need smaller tyres on the rear. Not larger!

sorry mate...

when you said the front looks huge in comparison I expected you to want to make the rear bigger to compensate.

the 265/30 tyre is actually 6mm smaller in diameter when compared to the 235/35. (3mm smaller from wheel centre to edge of tyre)

add into this the additional stretch on the rear, it will physically be smaller.

a 265/35 on the rear would take your rear tyre diameter upto 19mm large than the front. which would give you 8MM more from wheels centre to tyre edge on the rear, this should counteract the stretch slightly and give the impression that the tyres are a more similar size.

in comparison, if you used to have 18's with 225/40's front and 255/35's rear. there is only a 1mm difference in diameter, so the difference would be more noticeable when switching to 19's as your used to looking at tyres that are practically the same side wall size.

if you can follow all of that.

Can you fit a 225/35 on the front to bring the tyre size in line with the 265/30 rear?

So am I right in thinking that a 225/35/19 and a 265/30/19 are actually a closer match to achieving the the same rolling diameter when fitted to a 8.5j and 9.5j rim?

What about using the BMW OEM sizes of 225/35/19 and 255/30/19 on 8.5j / 9.5j - too much stretch?
