Replaced dead MULF with TCU - Problems

Hi all,

MULF died in my 2006 E90 Non-iDrive. I was able to source a cheap TCU and I'd heard it was just plug and play.

I have a couple of problems the first being that the bluetooth antenna cable won't actually plug into the new TCU properly because the 'notches' don't line up properly. Call quality is awful and breaks up terribly, I'm assuming this is directly related to the antenna? Do I need a different antenna cable?

Secondly I can't get any of the contacts to show up in the car on the headunit, it won't display recent calls or anything but they used to show up when the MULF was working! Is this a software problem?

Thanks in anticiptation.

You heard wrong.

TCU needs to be VIN coded into the car.

Umm the MULF and TCU are different things? The wiring especially is not the same, so it's possible your poor sound quality is the result of the mismatch in wiring.

I have to ask, but what made you think you could replace an MULF with a TCU?
