AirAndre: To be honest, I've not come close to touching them getting in or out of the car. I've not even had the thought at the back of my mind because they are out of the way. They look more in your face in the pics than in real life!
Sam, nah im not mate but I am due back there in september once he gets the digital AV Bit In boards in for my amps! |

TBH I only really use my stereo to listen to Talksport but by god that is one impressive setup. I'd love that just to hear Ally Brazil talk his complete and utter nonsense in perfect HD clarity.

A pillar builds look very good, but just wondering why they are trimmed in three pieces? I assume probably difficult to wrap around those shapes in one piece. Without being all jobsworth im not sure i fancy the idea of speakers in front of airbags either, did they say anything about that?

Previous to this i had Focal krs100 components, earthquake underseats, Bit Ten, Kicker 1000.5, jl xd600/1 and 13tw5 and this new system is definitely on another level.
I've heard many other cars in the past too. For most, the previous system i had would be more than enough (it wasn't bad at all) and those people wouldn't be able to justify the extra cost for this new system but I love my music and sound so was worth every penny. Each to their own i say! |

From my understanding, the airbags don't come out from the A Pillars, they come down from above the doors |

+1 on Airbag situation.... never clocked that until in conversation with someone else today. OP, can you share thoughts about pillar airbags and if they're still functional?
Thanks, |

I bet it sounds brilliant especially with HD playing ability. Unfortunately, airbag starts from A pillar to the roof and extend to C pillar. Here is what its like http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-OEM-E92-...-/181835949571 And here is when you remove the A pillar http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...83&postcount=4 It looks great and common practice in UK sound industry. Hybrid audio suggest them to mount where they are mounted in your car. As per to safety of driver and passenger, I guess it depends on how they are mounted. When side airbag get deployed, airbag come out under the A pillar and that A pillar trim does move. Photos of side airbag deloyed http://s843.photobucket.com/user/its...G0099.jpg.html I will leave it to you to conclude what will happen in case of accident. I am sure you will be fine and will never come across such situation. Drive safe and enjoy your music

Thanks Mak, interesting stuff. Drive safe and enjoy the music is my new motto!
So I asked the question and here was Shakeys response: "The A-pillar airbag deploys from between the rubber seal and pillar slowest to the side window, pushing the A-pillar forwards by around 20mm when doing so, it runs 3/4 the length of the pillar and all the way along the sides of the roof lining. It's called a "curtain airbag" and is for side protection. There's no risk of the pillars causing anymore harm than they would under normal deployment. For this reason the drivers are fixed solely to the pillar and the pillar is fixed to the car using all of its factory retaining clips, including that of the permanent torx fixture that is there to keep the pillar in place during deployment of the air bag"... It's a good question and one we get asked a lot, if it's not safe we won't do it, simple Ps, the stitches are there to release the slack that's caused when trimming such a shape, to trim them in one piece is impossible. |

Makes sense so no worries! Could I ask if you got a breakdown of prices and if so how much did the a pillar builds cost you? The more I look at them the more I fancy some of that action! Cheers mate
