M47 loss of power UPDATE!!!!

Hi all,

Was just out in the car e91 320d (m47-163bhp) was on the motorway cruising along at about 60mph in 6 gear when to overtake a car in front so started to try and speed up and all I was greeted with was a wailing noise and no boost 😳 I've got no engine light or cc codes just a wailing noise that gets louder as the revs rise ie when I should be hearing the turbo spooling up if that makes any sense 😏 had my baby daughter in the car so was shitting my self the car was gonna die on me but it drove fine just no boost just and a rather eary whaling banshee noise. Gonna wait till the wee one wakes then look for split boost pipes.

Anyone had this happen to them?

When a turbo goes it's usually a siren noise.

Can you smell fumes under the bonnet / in the car?

Any more info on this?

What mileage is/was your turbo on?

Just got car back tonight, new turbo, new oil pick up pipe, new crank case breather and new oil and filter. Been told to take it easy for a couple of hundred miles, does that sound about right?
It's good to have it back 👍

How much it set you back? Did they say what caused the failure?

Thinks it was possibly the breather 😏 so that was replaced with a new one from Bmw. All in roughly £850 bud which is a good bit cheaper than my local indie wanted 👍

Damn the breathers are notorious on these! Need to get mine done ASAP.

Glad it's back on the road though! Could have taken the engine with it😐

I think your very wise bud as mine gave no indication of going at all 😳 one minute fine next minute wailing banshee 😏

I'm glad to bud as you said just glad it didn't take the engine out aswell 👍
