iPhone

Bought one yesterday

Took about 10 mins to activate using iTunes and transfer existing O2 number...

Took a good couple of hours to get my own wireless network setup and various work/personal email accounts... but now working fine...

Picked up a lot of EDGE coverage coming in on the train this morning so good network speed

On the whole, (putting costs aside).... a brilliant little device

Is there a cradle adapter for it? Does it pair with the car?

Gordon, a friend had one and I was very impressed. However, I am with Orange so cannot get one from them. I just upgraded to an HTC TyTnII, which looks good but not quite as good as the iPhone. The biggest difference was price, I got Orange down to £39.99 for the Titan, as opposed to £260 for iPhone on an O2 tarriff.

Congratulations Gordon.

I feel a bit sad now, so I'm going to go & have a shot of Aftershock.

Thanks guys! No doubt it ain't cheap (£269 for the phone itself) and then the monthly contract. I went for the £35 a month option (which is only £15 more than the contract I was on) - but for checking email or browsing the web on the move, its brilliant The entire interface is a work of art and getting used to the touch screen keyboard is a doddle. Not had it a full day yet, but the battery life appears to be doing well.

Totally agree, bought my wife one for Christmas and she absolutely adores it. Funny thing is, Google earth is faster on the iPhone than any of our PC's

If you have a POP3 e-mail account and wish to retain your e-mail address, I would recommend using google mail to pick-up a copy of your mails from the POP3 server and download them onto the iPhone. Google mail also allows you to send a mail with you orginal address on a proxy basis. Great free tool

Two weeks after buying it my employer (they have a massive mobile phone contract with O2) struck a deal for staff to get a £70 discount on the handset

Had one since the release day and I must say I still have mixed feelings with it

Plus points for me are:
* Good battery life (if you knock the wi-fi off especially good)
* Intuitive interface
* Looks a million dollars
* Interfaces with 6FL perfectly
* Wi-Fi facility is superb

Minus Points:
* Crap camera (2MP and NO flash - this is like going back in time!)
* No MMS facility so can not send or receive photo's - again a huge backwards step and you get this on the very basic of Nokia's
* No facility to forward a text on (no good for sharing the good old text jokes from your mates)
* No facility to group text - you have to write the text again for each person

Minus points aside I still love it but not sure I can live with it full time

Not really done much with the camera to be honest, but you would think the last three points you made are achievable in a software update for the phone. As you say, these are basic features so hopefully they might appear in the future. The ability to copy/paste text when using the keyboard would be useful also.
