Hi,

I just picked up a used 2011 328i X-Drive Coupe with Sports Package, Value Package, Navigation, Voice Control, iPod/USB connections, and Harman Kardon Package. I couldn't find a way to connect my phone via bluetooth. On iDrive menu, phone is missing altogether. When I asked the salesman, he was stumped as I was. He went back and spoke to his technical folks and came back and told me Bluetooth was never included in my vehicle to start with. Is this even possible? If my car indeed came from the factory with all these other options, but no bluetooth, is it possible for me to retrofit bluetooth into the CIC/iDrive? Is it a matter of coding or do I need a new combox?

First of all confirm what you have.
Use one of the free BMW vin checkers online.
The phone option is a separate module on some model years.
On the recent cars its built in .
If its on a module in the year you have you need to get the module
the necessary wires and antenna's and have it coded into the car.
There is a bluetooth phone sticky at the top of this forum
and there is a separate idrive/nav forum here.

If you are lucky the module is there but not enabled and doesn't
have the antenna's , microphone and wiring .

Bimmertech could most likely do this for you.
I don't know if the combox comes with phone for sure but if it does
I would do that it would get you A2DP

Another option might be the NBT retrofit to the Nav/Idrive

Or you could go aftermarket
with something like the Dension 500s Bluetooth gateway.

I imagine S8SCA is the phone package. The already has a mike because it has voice control. Does bluetooth use a separate mike? Does bluetooth have a separate option code from what I have?

Some how I thought the combox had phone functions.
(as it replaces the mulf 2)Read the last link for Combox functions
it suppose to do a lot including the phone is what I get out of it.
Which leads me to think its a matter of programming.

You might want to talk to Bimmertech or the guys on the idrive board.

It would be nice it that was in English.
