Was installing the cobb AP and the whole car shortcircuited

This happened a while ago. I was installing my Cobb AP and my whole car short circuited, I could not use anything battery powered in the car. The windows were stuck, the locks did not work, the mirrors, etc. I got it towed to the dealer and they replaced the battery and all was well.
Now I'm considering getting it tuned again but I am worried this will happen again. What went wrong? Did I apply the wrong map? Anyone have a similar experience?

Thanks

Don't do anything car related on your own if you really think the car short-circuted from the Cobb.

Glad they replaced the battery, instead of charging it. BMW profits again, and you lost.

Get a battery charger like everyone said. Tuning 101.

There's a big difference between a battery dying and "the car short circuiting". Google to learn more.

Why is it that a battery charger is required? Installation takes like 10 minutes, shouldn't the battery be able to handle that?

A battery in good shape can handle it but a battery with age may not be able to.

How old was the battery?

if the install instructions say to use a battery charger, why are you not using a battery charger?

You battery is probably is either old or malfunctioning.
First Cobb install takes 30 minutes , the rest less than 5

To answer, avoiding Situations like OP's are exactly why they say a battery charger is required

Did you not answer the question for everyone? If you do the initial flash, you hook it up to a battery charger. Plain and simple. Switching maps is a different story.
