E90 LCI 335d w/JBD vs E92 328i
I was doing some pull tests with my buddy in his 328, and we actually found that my stock 335d and his stock 328i were neck and neck. It really came down to who got the jump, but there was no gap changes after we started rolling.
After reading about remaps, I planned my remap for next spring, but decided I'd settle with a JBD for now, as I got a decent price on it. The problem is, I didn't really notice a difference in our pull tests with the JBD set to 85%! Granted they weren't very well coordinated, but based on what I'm hearing, even with a jump, my 335d should've taken him no problem. Am I doing something wrong? |

The difference between no JBD and JBD at 85% is probably close to a full second in the 1/4 mile. Thats a huge difference. Aside from that, the 335d stock should pull any stock 328i by several tenths 0-60 and even more through a full 1/4 mile. Maybe you have another issue? CBU? Drag racing isnt as simple as smashing the go pedal, maybe your buddy is using his lack of power more effectively than you?

I agree with Hoooper. I have a tune from Jarek but the difference in acceleration is huge, I went on the highway against a new 328i and left him in diesel smoke (literally)

I picked up the car just over a week ago, at around 135k km. I don't think it's ever had a carbon cleaning, and on top of this, I don't believe that the previous owner really pushed the car at all (possibly more build-up?).
I will check into getting a carbon cleaning done, and report back with the results! |

How good were your launches in terms of traction? Is it possible that the traction control was kicking in and cutting back power? (you'd know this by the yellow traction control light coming on/flickering and by feel eventually)

After multiple 1/4 mile passes with and without the JBD, my otherwise stock 335D only gained a few tenths and a ~4MPH advantage with the JBD. That's with 40K miles on the clock and no CBU issues.

Check CBU as well as the boost hoses connecting to the intercooler. You shouldn't have that much of a power loss. A 328i has about 240hp, compared to your 267hp. The 300lb different in weight would be noticeable side by side, but you do indeed have twice the torque.
A stock 335d goes neck and neck with a stock 350z, and surprisingly a stock Challenger R/T.

At what %? A few tenths and 4 mph suggests maybe 50-60%? Either way that's more than enough to put car lengths on an e92 328i.

335d lags off the line if you get surprised, but if you know you are racing there is no lag. Brake boosting even just a tiny bit eliminates any waiting around for something to happen

And with a piggyback it becomes neck and neck with 2012-2014 Mustang GT's in my experience.

This isn't even a comparison. Get a boost gauge and see what levels you are running. There is a high chance that you are having some kind of boost leak. Another possibility is that your car was going under a regen. If you do not know what a regen(eration) is, read through the forums, or google DPF regeneration.
