Just as the title says. Any pros and cons for each. I have the base stereo

helix 82 dsp if you can swing it they need one more
helix 82 dsp if you can swing it they need one more
person for the group buy. See 82dsp thread. If not the cleansweep or a recode is the correct way to go. Unless the other thing you mentioned can do frequency correction the way a dsp can. (multiple bands) |

I agree with PP82, but the GD one is for HiFi cars only.

If you upgrade the fronts
If you upgrade the fronts on a base system don't you end
up in the same place as an upgraded hi fi with 82dsp. Well pretty much especially if you ignore the back speakers. Does using the 82 dsp use up very much range in straitening out the eq on the base system or would you recommend a re code to hi fi so it doesn't have to do as much de eq, just curious. |

But you could get a Technic or other harness

I don't know if Helix has one. But what about the question running speakers direct into the Helix as opposed to a Low Level input have you done that experiment? |

Yes, absolutely. We have done a ton that way. I wasn't implying that it wouldn't work and/or nothing was available, just that the GD doesn't apply.

I read once that once recoded to hifi you need to have the speaker outputs changed to Rca and until you install an amp you won't have sound. Is this right ?

You can't do a recode without and amp
You can't do a recode without and amp
it changes the output of the head unit to 5 volts out . You can wire it up with any connector but its a 5 volt pre amp signal after a recode to Hi Fi. It won't drive speakers to any kind of satisfying level. And that is true with the devices you asked about to. LCI6 just shifts voltage levels no frequency flattening. I think not to familiar with it. Still didn't get an opinion on speaker outs versus re code levels. I thought the general audio knowledge was that preamp levels were always preferred to speaker outs. Just wondering what the actual comparison was. Last edited by ctuna; 09-25-2015 at 07:26 AM.. |

1. Add the JL amp like you are planning to or 2. Add a processor/amp combo. The addition of the JL amp in combination with the HiFi signal will give you a flat/clean input for them amp. It will make everything sound cleaner/crisper/louder. However, it will not give you a better soundstage and imaging, and the final frequency response will not be ideal. That you can only achieve with a DSP. Having a good soundstage and accurate imaging are critical components to having a good sounding system. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...2#post17175012
