What's the deal with Team Dynamics wheels?
Hi all,
So I stumbled upon a set of Team Dynamics wheels, and I like the look of the Pro Race 1, 1.2, and 1.3 wheels. So I look this company up further, and on their website it seems like they are pretty involved in racing, and were the exclusive BTCC wheel for 2004,05,06, but what gets me is the weight of these wheels. For an 18" wheel in their competition line up, your looking at 23lbs in 18x8 size wheel, that's what my BMW 264 wheels weigh. The 17s are lighter, but still heavy compared to Apex and OZ. For example, this wheel here, the Pro Race 1: 7.0 x 15 e+23 to e+48 98 - 120 3/4/5 from 6.1kg at highest offset 7.0 x 17 e+35 to e+50 98 - 120 3/4/5 from 7.3kg at highest offset 8.0 x 17 e+20 to e+45 98 - 120 3/4/5 from 9.0kg at highest offset For a 17x8 wheel, 20lbs is NOT lightweight at all! Another thing is that you can find these wheels for about $250 a piece. So I'm just curious whether the quality is there or, and why would the BTCC and other race series use such heavy wheels? Reducing unsprung weight is very important for a race car. So what's the deal here? It's not adding up in my head . . . |
