anyone ever heard or used their filters. They are pretty cheap and say that they are oem spec.

wanted to gather some info before buying some parts from them.

Not cheap enough in my opinion (shipping kills it) and the picture doesn't even look like a BMW oil filter (theres no plastic in the genuine one). Genuine filter kit at the dealer is around $20 last time I got it. Otherwise heres one for $18 with free shippings

I don't think the brintech one says whether you get the orings and crush washer for the sump

I wouldn't skimp on something that's pretty cheap anyway.

I've read a thread somewhere on these aftermarket oil filters deconstructing and causing more issues than it's worth.

Food for thought:- How much is an engine rebuild/swap? How much are you saving a year?

If it's bugger all. OEM or higher than OEM quality proven aftermarket replacement.

yeah agreed - ill post up pics of what they look like and what it feels like.

I never really justify purchases with what is more expensive hence why i bought both to decide for myself.

wanted to guage any experience.

Exactly this!

Buy mann or oem. I bought a 12 pack back in 2012 and with shipping worked out around $12 for oem bmw filters

yeah i was looking at that. 6 years worth. now the $ is shot. ill report on quality once i receive both.

will review side by side.

I've also done a few oil changes for other n54 owners over the years, and you could split a pack with someone else.

The filter may look fine side by side when new, but in use under pressure and heat it may potentially break down (as in physically crush and deform) This is very bad as it can cause oil pressure issues...

Again the age old "Genuine BMW" brand trick.

Mahle, Mann, Bosch, Hengst, Febi, Vaico... they're all OEM spec. If you look hard enough you'll even find the one that is identical to BMW without the BMW roundel stamp...

Had a MINI come in with engine failure due to a Cooper Filter being fitted..it deconstructed and caused the damage.

Keep in mind the Genuine Filters we charge $23 retail...but if you ask for trade, $19.80. Plus if you buy in bulk, I cant speak for other dealers but im always happy to work out a deal when people buy in bulk.

My local repco wanted over $40 for a generic Reyco branded one.
