The main differences between '07 and other years have been mentioned. Some didn't have oil coolers. If you don't I'd add one. Some MT had open diff, some welded. My '08 was welded. Dan you BMW. And the rest is basically the same mechanically till 2010.
Someone else said basic maintenance. I agree. Great time to do the water pump, pcv, and walnut blast too when you do your upgrades. Let us know how you progress. |

Been sort of following your build thread, but I am not looking to beat any other car, just trying to build the car that I want out of this very malleable platform. I hope threads like these can help more n54 enthusiasts get what they Anyway, to get the thread back on track a little:- The following has been done at 103 K now:- -Walnut Blast at 70K (currently at 102K, might do another next year) -JB4 -DCI -New Spark Plugs/coils (10K ago) -Battery (12K) -Fluid Flush (10K ago) -New Wheels/Tires (will get another set PSS & APEX, not a fan of current setup) -M3 Upper & Lower control arms -Rear Subframe inserts:Whiteline -Koni FSD Looking to do the following (next few months):- -FMIC -DP -CP -LSD -Brakes |

My main point by posting was it would be nice for everyone to include build month and year instead of just year when talking about our cars, because there are many things that changed in the middle of a model year, especially with 2007's. It prevents statements that are not factually correct, like 2007's did not have oil coolers, or 2007's had bolted open differentials. Many people assume things changed at the model year change, or are the same between manual trans and auto trans. For example, obscure things like the wiring, or fuse box changed at many points, the rear axles are mm's different between manual trans and auto, base software release, ecu control unit, modules, large diff pumpkin vs. small diff pumpkin, etc. Good luck with your future modifications.

I used to auto-cross on stock pads and rotors without issue. A few track days were ok too. Changing pads for the track makes sense, but calipers and rotors are big ticket items that don't do much on the street.. Multiple laps on a fast track may prove otherwise...

Eventually I'm going to upgrade to oem F30 front calipers and stop tech rotors. Less than 2 grand and better stopping power. They're brembo 4 pot calipers, larger rotors so less fade, and look good. 4 colors to pick from too. BBK is probably a waste unless you are making a dedicated track car. |
