Fluid top off question....
Im gonna replace my oil filter housing gasket this weekend. Can i use mobil 1 5w-30 to top off my oil? How about coolant (i bought some Pentofrost NF at O'reilly's)?
Let me know if i should get OEM coolant/oil for the top-off. Thanks. |

As far as the coolant goes, I stick to the stuff BMW sells in their jugs. |

Not sure how old you coolant is, but just drain it into a clean pan and reuse it. The both times I did my OFHG I did it at an oil change interval. Draining the coolant is a piece of cake.

OP you can use any full synthetic 5w30, or whatever weight oil you have, for topping off. Oil is very compatible with itself. Coolant is less forgiving and has various compatibility requirements. To be completely safe, it's better to stick with OE BMW coolant. Last edited by Welcome to NBA Jam; 10-16-2015 at 09:49 AM.. |
