N54 info

Hi,

how can the N55 have the same power of the N54 with a single turbo?
maybe the N55 twinscroll turbo is more powerful that the N54 turbos?

or can it be because N55 does have the Valvetronic?

cheers,
Matteo

Lots of info on n54 vs n55. N55 is a more efficient engine, but the n54 was more solid, robust, overbuilt. N54 forged crank, Forged cracked rods, high quality cast pistons. So all in all, the feeling is bottom end of the motor has better tolerances in n54.

I tought that the N55 has valvetronic while the N54 does not, right?
Also the turbos are different (two turbos vs one twinscroll)

May be he was sarcastic you used n55 twice. Yes n55 is twin scroll.

Anyway, a 3 liter engine w one turbo can easily do 300. 100hp / liter is on the low side for turbo cars. Saab and GM did about 130 hp/ liter esp on the solstice gxp motor and that was say 10yrs ago.

The current production highest output is merc cla45 think, 180hp per liter.

Lol didn't noticed

Yes, actually cla45 has 180hp/l while VW has 150 hp/l in the S3, or 200 hp/l if the rumors about the Golf R 400 are true
