Help bleeding clutch
Not sure if this is the right section, if not mods can you please move it.
Did the CDV delete and can't for the life of me bleed this clutch. Literally nothing comes out the bleeder valve when i open it. Fluid is a little more than half way full (plan to get more tomorrow). I tried pumping the clutch peddle then going to open the bleeder valve and nothing comes out. I tried using one of those shitty advanced auto parts vacuum pump kits and still not getting any fluid out. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here. |

What he said. Easiest way is a pressure bleeder or vacuum bleeder. Without those things, you need 2 people. Push down clutch and hold, crack open bleeder until fluid slows (but before it stops!), then shut bleeder and release clutch. Repeat until satisfied.
If you don't have a helper, you can use a piece of 2x4 or anything else to prop between the clutch pedal and the seat. Wedge it depressed, then crawl under and bleed the clutch as above.

I pump the clutch, push it all the way down (clutch basically just drops to the floor, won't come up unless I pull it), put a brick on it to make sure it stay down, open the bleeder valve and nothing comes out

I've had the same problem doing my CDV delete.
You should try to fill it from the underside, press the brake fluid from the bleeder up back to the resevoir. This will push the trapped air upwards. Best to do this is to get a small pump can, fill it up with some brake fluid and attach a small hose from the can to the opened bleeder. Pump until the air bubbles stop mounting up in the reservoir. Borrowed the motive bleeder from someone local, and omg that thing makes this job so easy!! Def kicking myself for not picking one up before doing this job.

Get the fitting for your brake reservoir too. Jacking the car up is the hardest part of my annual brake bleeds.

Every clutch I've done I do the same way, let it gravity bleed for 5 minutes watching the level, pump/hold method.
Sounds like you need some patience Pressure bleeders will work as well, just gravity bleed it first, makes a world of a difference |
