330i Whoop Whoop Whoop noise at low rpm

I have a noise it's hard to search for but it basically sounds like a whoop whoop whoop sort of noise that gets progressively faster when the rpms go up and you can no longer here it after about 2k rpms. It also doesn't make the noise so much below 800 rpms.

Popping the hood it seems to be near the exhaust manifold side of the engine.

I don't see the belt rubbing on anything...

There seems to be oil leaking from the exhaust side of the engine. Plastic housing plugs are dirty with oil on that side.

Is there a pump that spins on the engine's power that is going out or something? It's definitely something powered by the engine.

Seems like an alternator pulley bearing problem, try to remove your belt and spin all pulleys by hand .....

Does it happen when you are driving, or is it when the car's stationary?

I'd guess it could be the pulley on the tensioner, or the two other idler pulleys. Just take the belt off (very easy to do - look for the DIY) and free spin each pulley. When the pulleys are new the bearing are tight and they don't spin very fast and have resistance. As the bearings age, they loosen up a bit. If they are "grainy" when they spin, the bearings are pretty much spent.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Yeah, if any of the pulley free rolls and make a "trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" sound, it's dead, basically.
