This one really is shocking. I mean they could pull off all kinds of bits. Front bumper, rear bumper, indicators, logo's in the wheels, wheels, wind mirrors...

I've a big excess on my insurance so I'm sure I'd be paying.

Maybe a bit OTT but what if you screwed down the next one? Or molded it into the boot so that its seamless?
I ended up using security bolts on the front and rear bumper, only problem is the idiot trying to take the parts will probably end up keying your car in frustration as they're leaving empty handed.

I hear that! I had dice ones on my Mongoose, they last all of a week.

That's a pretty good idea. Going to check the sizes needed...

Update: Police have been to check for fingerprints. None found

She wasn't sure but it 'appeared' that they wore gloves (wouldn't look suspicious in the current weather I guess).

Just so happens that the CCTV camera that was near the car park has a 'technical issue'

So I guess that's that.

New spoiler to be ordered.

Sorry to hear this, I've wanted to put a spoiler on my E92 but having second thoughts now if some low life is going to rip it off..

I thought Hitchin was a fairly respectable area? Only been a few times, and never had any issues.

Some people are a joke. Someone stole my shark fin once and now my roof has 2 massive dents where they struggled to get it off.

Sad times. When I go to the shops I always take a kid so I park on the parents spaces. The risks of being spotted are high for a simple spoiler!
Are you sure it wasn't the old lady, after all she had the perfect cover?!

I bet it was a young lad who thinks it's worth a mint since it's a BMW.

I hope it hasn't caused any damage.

A friend had her rear bumper stolen whilst parked on her driveway

They certainly won't be able to take it off with Tigerseal, but neither will you after the thieving scumbags wreck it and the boot lid trying to prise it off with a screwdriver, making it impossible to remove is a double edged sword

That's exactly what I was thinking IanS100. If you were unfortunate enough to have this happen again and you had it stuck on with Tiger seal, they'll ruin your boot lid when trying to remove it and will probably end up costing more than the £90 for a new spoiler to fix the damage they caused. Absolute thieving scumbags around!!!

It is tbh. I think just bad timing and parking in a badly lit area where they could be round the back of my car unseen.

Haha could've been the old lady, woulda looked nice on her red Yaris!

Yeh I think that's it. I'm half expecting to see someone with the spoiler on their E92/3 drive past me next week.

Unfortunately it has but I should be able to touch it up.

Very sad Craig that we see/hear of this sort of thing. Whereabouts did it happen, local in Hitchin or further afield? I chose to have my spoiler bonded to my bootlid rather than use double sided tape the beauty do the tape though is that as you've discovered it will minimise damage when some excuse of a human being yanks it off. Being bonded mines not going anywhere it simply doesn't move period, but should someone not give up with mine and for something daft then damage to my bootlid would be far greater than what you're left with.

As you know I work for A1 and we used to break cars and still get asked for parts and I know to this day and things like bumpers and door mirrors get nicked. In London for instance bumpers used to I know as we were frequently asked "find their freedom" on E46 coupe/cab models people would come out to find their cars stripped while mirrors on later X5's are still disappearing from parked cars as well causing in some cases well in excess of £1500 worth of damage as they slice a power and signal cable for the chromatic mirrors

Cheers Steve. Yeh happened in Hitchin, Bancroft area near town.

I think I will bond the replacement on. What did you use to bond yours? Someone mentioned tigerseal above so think I'll go with that.

I know what you're saying about damage being caused if they try to remove a bonded spoiler but they've damaged my boot lid when only tape was used so can't win either way really.

I cleaned up the bootlid yesterday and got all the excess tape off, gave it a quick machine polish then got a coat of wax to help protect the bare metal until I get a replacement fitted.

not good Craig I suspect they've therefore damaged the bootlid by levering the spoiler off

Yeh the bastards used a screwdriver to prise 1 side up, then again in the middle as I assume they weren't strong enough to keep pulling it.

Like I said I think most of the marks will be covered by the replacement spoiler, which I just ordered
