Rear Main Seal
I'm replacing my clutch and figure it's also a good time to replace my rear main seal.
REALOEM lists two part numbers for my car. (Built 10/08) What is the correct part number and installation procedure for this?

That's the 12mm seal, I thought that was the old version?

I installed the 4398 seal and used the uber expensive bmw sealer. A fine threaded sheet metal screw screwed into the old seal in a designated spot makes it easy to remove. Examine your new seal and it will be apparent where the spots are for removal. The sealant is a two part primer-sealer. Sealer comes in a syringe to shoot it into the seams created where the seal meets the bedplate/engine block surface. Bentlely manual calls out to use sealer in this seam area, but I used a thin film around the entire circumference of the seal, then filled the small gaps at the bedplate seam with the syringe. the sealer dries in a few hours. The other seal pn may work but I cant attest to it. I considered using rtv black or something similar for sealer, but I didn't want to do it again so opted to bite the bullet and get the real stuff. Something else may work adequately though I cant say.

Sealer was 63.00 for a small tube. Found the primer from a place.who had a tube about to expire for 83 cents. No leaks but cant say rtv black or gray wouldnt work as well. For me too much work to redo if it leaked.
