Are my BOVs shot?
I have a recent ticking noise. I think it's my BOVs. A few weeks ago I cleaned my DCI. I must have knocked the vacuum line from the intake to the BOVs loose. A few days ago I got a ticking noise that seems to originate from them. I took out the DCI and found the loose hose. I reconnected it but it still ticks.
1. Do bad BOVs make a ticking noise? 2. Can I damage anything if they're not functioning properly? 3. Can I do a temporary fix? I plan on replacing them in a few weeks anyway when I get paid. They are stick, have 226,000 miles on them. The waste gates are leaky and shot. I'm not making any boost at the moment and wasn't before. I just want to limp along for a couple thousand highway miles till I can replace them and not cause sny damage. I think one or both may be stuck open. Would this happen if I loose vacuum? Maybe hose is leaking. Thx
