Recall on modified 335i question?
Hi all, still new here so sorry if there is an obvious answer here to my question.
Basically I have had BMW's most of my driving life but decided to go for something more powerful this year and picked up a 335i. I then set to work modding the looks and now have started on the engine adding a JB4 and DCI. Then this week I found out I have an outstanding recall on my car to have the high pressure fuel pump replaced. Its good news that I could have this work done for free but I have seen people writing about removing their JB4s before sending their cars into the dealership. I can take the current engine mods out no problem but wont be able to remove the exterior changes.. So my question is would BMW still carry out the work with the car being obviously modified? |

I would say yes, because it's a recall and not warranty work, the latter's term would have been broken by modifications.
I would still remove JB4 because maybe they would be reluctant to work on the engine with a mod. But I don't think that's definite. |

Since it's a recall they should replace the part without much trouble but could say that no warranty is given on it due to the mods. If you can easily remove them then I would.
For matter of interest what year is your car and since has this been a recall? My 2011 had a recall for a bolt within the engine but nothing else. |

I agree with the above, since it is a recall and not warranty work I wouldn't be too worried about mods. Just switch JB4 to map 0.
BTW how did find out about the outstanding recall? Is this something the dealer did?

How did you find out about an outstanding recall? I've asked BMW UK to confirm the work done on my 335i and its only history is for routine servicing.

You could go in with the JB4 connected and they may not notice unless the computer fails to connect, even in map 0. The risk is up to you. |

Hi all thanks for the replies. Yes will deffo take out the JB4 before it goes in.
I found out about the recall by calling my local BMW main dealer and telling them I recently brought a second hand car and wanted to know if there was any outstanding recalls. They asked for my number plate and then came back and told me that. |

No mention to me about a hpfp recal when I spoke to bmw a few weeks ago. The vanos bolt recall was done on my car earlier in the year (for the previous owner), which effected the n55s.

Did the HPFP affect the N55? I thought it was only the N54?
Think i'll give BlueBell Crewe a call today and see what they say. |
