Shit I bought BMS DPs and it fit perfectly! Some guy on CL had a bunch brand new probably when BMS gave them all away because they couldn't sell them anymore.

Sounds nice. I think at the end of the day it's just a pipe. The weld quality counts but u can't go wrong with AR or VRSF. I think it's lifetime warranty on the welds.

I will, I've been using VRSF products for a couple years. I keep getting them and taking them off and selling when I need an inspection lol. Just moved to SC where there is no inspection (or front plates) required. So awesome!!!

VRSF Downpipes

Hey guys , wanted to ask you guys a question. I have a 2011 BMW E90 335i xdrive with BMW performance exhaust . I am looking into getting a VRSF catless downpipes. My understanding is that the car has secondary cats with xpipes and no resonator. Will the sound be too loud without the resonators? What about the drone? I dont want it to sound raspy or too loud at all!

Keep the secondary and stock axle back exhaust with catless downpipes. Then it will be a reasonable volume and not too raspy.

Remove the secondary cats and you'll induce more volume and rasp.

Catless downpipes + PE is a very popular setup. I think it sounds great but of course each person has a different preference.
I recommend you search on youtube for cars that has the same setup and decide for yourself if you like it or not

I would never use anything from them. If their quality is as bad as their customer service. I could not imagine giving them N54Tuning my money after what E90Gone went through with them and what the outcome was.

On the other hand Xtreme Powerhouse has gotten me my exact order correct with no issues or excuses every time I have ordered from them and has answered my emails in what I would consider a very timely fashion.

So in summation yes I ordered the coated VRSF DPs.

I can attest to this. I had to pay $300 for a shop to fail fit a set of N54tuning pipes. Tried contacting Mike about it and my e-mails were ignored even though he asked me to contact him on the forums.

I up with a set of vrsf pipes and couldn't be happier. Better quality and they fit like a glove.

For street driven cars, is the coating worth it on the downpipes?

And with the vrsf dp's and BMW performance exhaust (n54) is there ANY rasp at all?

If I've learned anything re: rasp -- and I've studied it and experimented with it until my eyes have fallen out of their sockets and the kids are facing community college -- it's that you can't predict it, even with the same setup. There are plenty of people who have rasp with the PE exhaust and catless DPs (and many of those have ostensibly cured it by putting in a pair of Vibrant resonators). There are apparently some who do not.

I developed nasty rasp after putting on some AR catless DPs. The traditional "cure" -- swapping out secondary cats for Vibrant resonators -- did not work for me. Someone suggested this was due to the configuration of the 335is exhaust. Who knows. I ended up swapping out the AR DPs for Cobb catted. Guess what? I still have some rasp. Not as bad as with the catless, but it's still there nonetheless. So I have wasted a ton of money and time to get to a place not all that far away from where I was when I initially had catless DPs put on (and have lost 5-10 hp in the process).

Bottom line: you probably won't get rasp. Or maybe you will. Nobody can guarantee it, and don't listen to anyone who says they can.

Yea that's what it seems like I think. I read you other thread about it, sorry you had to go through all that. I'm kind of like you, I can't stand the least bit of rasp or drone.

Currently I have stock dp's, secondary cats removed, and a performance exhaust...and it sounds PERFECT. It's not too quiet, but it's not loud by any means. It has just the right amount of sound. No rasp whatsoever.
I'm just after the spool and better midrange power w/the catless dp's.
I'm not sure if doing catted DP's are worth it - power or spool wise.

Actually since you've had both catless and catted dp's. Would you say that the spool time increased when you went from catless to catted dp's? Can you comment on if catted DP's still spool faster than stock?

thanks!

I haven't noticed any real difference between catted and catless, but I haven't been paying close attention. As for catted v. stock, I'm sure.
