Very infrequent VANOS issue - what would you do?

I had a VANOS exhaust issue (2A7A back in June). The half engine symbol disappeared on restart and I pretty much forgot about the issue and didn't do anything, and cleared the codes. Today, 6 months later. I got another half engine light and ran a check and have a 2A99 code (and 3100 Boost Pressure code, both times). Again, turned off the car and restarted it, and engine light went off. I did some spirited driving around town WOT and no issues.

I'm pretty handy but haven't done much work on cars. I'm assuming that the exhaust VANOS solenoid isn't working properly and that the smart thing to do is to remove both and clean them, then flip to see if the problem next time (which could be in another 6 months) switches to the intake. Or should I just pick up new solenoids and replace them? Car is a 2009 with 81k miles on it. I could also just clear the codes now, forget about it again, and see what happens next time. Thoughts?

It's very easy to take them out, clean and swap them. Might as well give it a try.

I tried to clean mine it helped but didn't eliminate it. Replaced with a new one, problem solved.

I'm the kind of person that doesn't like to deal with more bs than I have to. I would recommend purchase and replace both and be done with it. It's only a matter of time before the other one goes anyways. They aren't that expensive (100 each). I wouldn't waste time swapping and test driving and ten replacing unless you have that kind of time.
